Brimley Beach
Brimley, Michigan
Within one of Michigan’s oldest state parks – Brimley State Park, Brimley beach is located in Chippewa County. This sandy beach boasts seemingly endless scenic views of Superiors Whitefish Bay. Paddle the waters, discover historic land sites or swim within the marked swimming area Brimley Beach has something for everyone. Amenities include modern public washrooms, designated pet friendly areas and is RV and motorcycle friendly. Be sure to check out the Point Iroquois Lighthouse during your visit!
Paradise, Michigan
Also located in Michigan’s Chippewa County, Whitefish Point Beach is an easy 10 mile drive from Paradise. Discover a rocky/sandy beach with many amenities and attractions for you to enjoy. From the Whitefish Point Lighthouse to the Great Lake Shipwreck Museum situated around the beach to the vast views stretching all the way over to Canada, this beautiful beach will keep you entertained for hours. Crisp Point Beach
Newberry, Michigan
Moving over to Michigan’s Luce County, Crisp Point beach is located 37 miles north of Newberry. Although a further drive from the nearest community, you’re sure to find tranquility at this sandy beach that extends for miles along the Lake Superior Shore. Take advantage of the natural wonders Lake Superior has to offer as you search for agates along the shoreline, seek out the Crisp Point Lighthouse and Visitor Center for historical information during your visit. Twelvemile Beach
Grand Marais, Michigan
In Michigan’s Alger County you’ll find Twelvemile Beach located along the 40 mile Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. 16 miles west of Grand Marais, Twelvemile beach well named for its long sandy/pebbly landscape along Lake Superior. Situated adjacent to the Twelvemile Beach Campground this is a great destination to include amongst you Lake Superior Circle Tour. The campground sits slightly higher than the beach itself offering picturesque views right from the door of your camper, RV or tent of Lake Superior.
Chapel Beach
Munising, Michigan
Another beach located in Michigan’s Alger County and along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Chapel Beach is approximately 15 miles east of Munising. A bit more challenging to get to, this beach requires you to take a 3 mile hike from the trailhead to the actual beach. However, you’ll experience breathtaking views of Chapel Lake as well as Chapel Falls. The sandy beach itself features a sandstone remnant, known as Chapel Rock. You’re sure to experience an abundance of beauty and adventure while visiting this Lake Superior treasured beach.
Miners Beach
Shingleton, Michigan
Located within Michigan’s Alger County and along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Miners Beach is a short 6 mile drive from Munising. Considered one of the most popular beaches along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, this sandy beach is sure to meet your expectations of beauty. A perfect location for swimming, you can also spend your time paddling along the shores or picnicking on the silky sandy beach. Amenities include pet friendly areas, RV parking and is a short walking distance from the parking lot. Be sure to take the time to also check out Miners Falls and Miners Castle while in the area!
Sand Point Beach
Munising, Michigan
The final beach located along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan’s Alger County, Sand Point Beach is the closest to Munising at just a short 4 mile distance from town. From the soft white sand below your feet to the admirable views of Munising Bay, Grand Island, and the East Channel Lighthouse, Sand Point Beach is not one you’ll want to miss. Amenities include pet friendly areas, RV parking and general nearby parking to the beach for easy walking distance, a sheltered swimming area thanks to the close proximity of Grand Island, picnic tables, grills, public restrooms and the Pictured Rocks Ranger Station.
Au Train Beach

Located within the Hiawatha National Forest of Michigan’s Alger County, Au Train Beach sits between Lake Superior and the community of Au Train. This beach is just steps from the parking lot, guiding you down to the waterfront are sandy pathways with railings that open up to the picturesque beach. This is truly a one-stop-shop for all things beachy!
South Beach
Marquette, Michigan
In Michigna’s Marquette County, South beach is located in the community of Marquette and is a sandy beach lover’s dream. Offering beautiful views of Lake Superior from the sandy shores, you can also take advantage of the close proximity to Marquette Harbor Lighthouse (2km distance) to get a view from above. Amenities include wheelchair access to the beach via ramp, pet friendly areas, perfect swimming conditions for children due to the shallow waters and a playground.
McCarty’s Cove
Marquette, Michigan
Also located in Michigan’s Marquette County, McCarty’s Cove is within walking distance of Marquette active downtown area. This sandy beach is supervised via lifeguard during peak season and has the Marquette Harbor Lighthouse situated directly beside the cove, along with the Marquette Maritime Museum, find something for everyone to enjoy while at McCarty’s Cove!
Picnic Rocks Beach
Marquette, Michigan
Another beach in Marquette in Michigan’s Marquette County, Picnic Rocks Beach is a sandy/pebbly beach that is popular for the views of Lake Superior and the Marquette Harbor Lighthouse. This is one of the few locations where swimming is not permitted due to the rip current that runs parallel to the shore. Amenities include a shaded picnic area, playground, restrooms, water fountain and the City Multi Use Paths.
Clark Lambros Beach Park
Marquette, Michigan
The fourth beach located in Marquette in Michigan’s Marquette County, Clark Lambros Beach Park is on the shoreline of Lake Superior in Presque Isle Harbor. A place for everyone to enjoy, this beach has wheelchair accessibility and a beach-accessible wheelchair for those with limited mobility to be able to take advantage of the unique beauty Lake Superior has to offer. Note that the beach wheelchair is only available during peak season when a lifeguard is on duty. Enjoy scenic views, a picnic on the beach or at the designated tables, cook your lunch on the outdoor grills. There is a public washroom and even a rinse station for sandy feet!
Black Rocks Beach
Marquette, Michigan
Second to last beach located in Marquette within the Presque Isle Park in Michigan’s Marquette County, Black Rock Beach is a pebbly/rocky beach. Surrounded by two black rock cliffs, this location gives a unique view to Lake Superior and the chance to cliff jump into the deep waters below! Amenities include a picnic table, sheltered swimming thanks to the rock formations and close proximity to the gravel parking lot. Also view the Presque Isle Harbor Breakwater Lighthouse!
Little Presque Isle Beach

The final beach located in Marquette Michigan, Little Presque Isle Beach in Marquette County is a sandy/rocky beach. L’Anse Waterfront Park Beach

L’Anse Waterfront Beach Park is in Michigan’s Baraga County of L’Anse. This pebbly Lake Superior beach within L’Anse Bay is perfect for agate hunting along the shores. Enjoy playground and splash pad fun for the kids, picnic tables and outdoor grills for lunches and even dock at the marina. Be entertained by live band performances and farmers markets at the pavilion during the peak seasons or relax on the beach enjoying the Lake Superior views. A place for the whole family to have fun, L’Anse Waterfront Park Beach has something for everyone.
Bete Grise Beach
Bete Grise, Michigan
Located in Bete Grise on the south side of the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan’s Keweenaw County, Bete Grise Beach is a white sand, mile long, Lake Superior Oasis. The beach of “singing sands”, legend has it that if you place the palm of your hand to the sand, swirl it around and listen closely, you’ll hear the singing of a Native American woman whose one true love was lost at the hands of Lake Superior. A desired location for paddling, sun soaking and Lighthouse seeking via Mendota (Bete Grise) Lighthouse, this beach is a wondrous location you’ll surely not want to miss.
Great Sand Bay Beach
Mohawk, Michigan
Located in Mohawk within Michigan’s Keweenaw County, Great Sand Beach is a sandy/rocky beach on the shore of Lake Superior. Being one of the largest sand beaches in Keweenaw County stretching at over a thousand feet of sand dunes Great Sand Beach is one to impress, with white sand at the bottom of the bay and rocky areas atop, this is a location to fit everyone’s beach preferences, relax in the silky sand or search for agates among the rocks. Other amenities include a close distance to parking across the M-26 and shallow swimming areas providing warmer waters.
Agate Beach Park
Toivola, Michigan
Also in Michigan’s Keweenaw County in Toivola is Agate Beach Park, as the name suggests its a popular destination for Agate hunters to search for gems of Lake Superior. This beach does still have a sandy shoreline perfect for relaxing in the sun, and pet friendly areas. Other amenities such as vault toilets, 20amp electricity outlets and picnic tables are also available for public use. This beach is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Ontonagon Township Park Beach
Ontonagon, Michigan
Ontonagon Township Park Beach is located in Ontonagon in Michigan’s Ontonagon County. This Lake Superior sandy beach is a great location for natural artifact seekers, find agates, “sea” glass/ beach glass and driftwood. Amenities include free parking, RV parking, camping, playground area that has a wheelchair accommodated swing and pet friendly areas. While in the area be sure to check out Porcupine Mountain as well as the Ontonagon Lighthouse.
Black River Harbor Recreation Area
Bessemer, Michigan
In Michigan’s Gogebic County, 16 miles from Bessemer you’ll find Black River Harbor Recreation Area along the Lake Superior shore. This is a sandy/pebbly beach with lots to offer from ample parking space that is suitable for RVers to the pavilion for restrooms and a communal fireplace, ideal for gatherings. Black River Harbor Recreation Area is also known to be a waterfall hotspot, from the Recreation Area you’ll have access to Rainbow Falls, Sandstone Falls, George Falls, Potawatomi Falls and Great Conglomerate Falls. Other amenities include an open boat launch and a picnic area with tables.
Note: this location does have limitations on 24 hour access, call 906-932-1330 ahead of time to ensure access upon your arrival.
Little Girls Point County Park Beach
Ironwood, Michigan
In the Gogebic County of Michigan in the community of Ironwood, Little Girls Point County Park Beach is a unique cobblestone beach along the Lake Superior shoreline. A location that has it all, it is a rock/agate hunter’s dream destination and a perfect place to bring the kids, with a playground, shallow swimming areas and public washroom facilities. Other amenities include pet friendly areas, ample parking, picnic areas, camping and RV parking areas as well as a pavilion. From this Lake Superior beach you can also expect to see Porcupine Mountains and Apostle Island on a clear day.
Bayview Park
Ashland, Wisconsin
In Ashland in Wisconsin’s Ashland County is Bayview Park located on the shoreline of Lake Superior’s Chequamegon Bay. This is an ideal location for family fun, fish off the pier, swim the shores or relax in the shade under the pavilion. Come mid-July the annual Bay Days Festival is held at Bayview Park for live entertainment. Other attractions include pet friendly areas, a playground area, RV parking, ample parking and restroom facilities.
Maslowski Beach
Ashland, Wisconsin
Also located in Ashland in Wisconsin’s Ashland County is Maslowski Beach. This sandy Lake Superior beach stretches 1,431 feet and has shallow waters perfect for swimming with the whole family. Enjoy a playground, pavilion, restrooms, changing rooms and an artesian well. Step back into history by checking out the French Fur traders historical marker while in the area!
Casper Road Beach – Grants Point
Madeline Island, La Pointe, Wisconsin
On the southeast side of Madeline Island in La Pointe you’ll be brought to Lake Superior’s Casper Road Beach at Grants Point, located in Wisconsin’s Ashland County. Enjoy a 2.6 mile ferry ride from Bayfield to the island boasting amazing Lake Superior views. Once there, enjoy the sandy beach and calm waters perfect for swimming.
La Pointe Memorial Beach
Madeline Island, La Pointe, Wisconsin
Also located on Madeline Island in La Pointe in Wisconsin’s Ashland County you’ll find La Pointe Memorial Beach. Take a 2.6 mile ferry ride from Bayfield to the island boasting amazing Lake Superior views. Once there, enjoy a sandy Lake Superior beach that stretches 355 feet. Other amenities include a playground area, restrooms, covered picnic tables and outdoor grills, easily spend an afternoon with the family and have something for everyone to enjoy at La Pointe Memorial Beach.
Halvor Reiten Park and Public Beach
Bayfield, Wisconsin
Also known as Broad Street Beach, Halvor Reiten Park and Public Beach is located in Bayfield in Wisconsin’s Bayfield County. This Lake Superior beach has sandy shores and a wealth of history for you to learn about. The park is a historic boatyard and got the name from the original owner Halvor Reiten who built and repaired wooden boats, this is the pinnacle of Bayfield’s Maritime History. Amenities include a boat launch, RV parking and close parking proximity to the beach.
Meyers Beach
Cornucopia, Wisconsi
In Cornucopia in Wisconsin’s Bayfield County you’ll find Meyers Beach. This Lake Superior sandy beach is in Mawikwe Bay on the Apostle Island National Lakeshore. A great spot for swimming, beachcombing for natural artifacts and picnicking while soaking in the beautiful views. From this beach you can find the Apostle Island Sea Caves by either hiking the Meyers Beach Sea Cave Trail or hiking to them.
Cornucopia Beach
Cornucopia, Wisconsin
Cornucopia Beach is located in Cornucopia in Wisconsin’s Bayfield County. This sandy beach is located in Siskiwit Bay of Lake Superior and is an ideal location to swim due to the shallow waters. Enjoy an artesian well, tour the Green Shed Museum and view the historic tug boats. If you have a taste for smoked fish visit the shops by the marina, you’ll also find beautiful handmade pottery pieces available for purchase, at the marina you can also dock and launch your boat.
Bark Bay
Herbster, Wisconsin
Located 4 miles from Herbster you’ll find Bark Bay in Wisconsin’s Bayfield County. A secluded, sandy Lake Superior beach that stretches 2 miles along the bay. This beach is accessible only by boat through Bark Bay State Slough Natural Area. Bark Bay Slough consists of a coastal barrier spit, lagoon, springs, and wetlands between two rocky headlands along Lake Superior.
Herbster Bay
Herbster, Wisconsin
Located in Herbster in Wisconsin’s Bayfield County, Herbster Beach is a pebbly Lake Superior beach that spans a mile long. With picnic tables, portable washrooms and the opportunity to camp right along the south shore at Herbster Campground, you’re bound to fall in love with this location. There is also a nearby boat launch just a few minutes drive north.
Port Wing Beach
Port Wing, Wisconsin
In Port Wing is Port Wing Beach, a sandy Lake Superior beach in Wisconsin’s Bayfield County. Accessible via Beach Road through the Port Wing Marina, this is a great destination for rock and driftwood collectors to find their next natural treasure. There is a beautiful boardwalk to follow along the beach to get admiration views of Lake Superior. This is also a pet friendly location.
Park Point Beach
Duluth, Minnesota
In Duluth Minnesota in St. Louis County is Park Point Beach. A sandy beach on the shore of Lake Superior that offers a Public Beach House, inside amenities include washrooms, showers, snacks and life jackets. The Beach House is open to the public between the hours of 11:00AM to 4:00PM – weather permitting. Beach amenities include an on duty lifeguard, pet friendly areas, close parking lots to the beach and RV parking locations.
Park Point Layfayette Community Club Beach
Duluth, Minnesota
Also in Duluth Minnesota in St. Louis County is Park Point Layfayette Community Club Beach. A sandy beach on Minnesota Point located just by the Aerial Lift Bridge. This Lake Superior beach has a variety of amenities including a beach house with restrooms, pet friendly areas, wheelchair accessibility, a baseball diamond and playground. This is a great Lake Superior beach you’re going to want to visit.
Franklin Square/12th Street Beach
Duluth, Minnesota
The sand dune beach of Franklin Square/12th Street Beach is located in Duluth Minnesota’s St. Louis County, also just past the Aerial Lift Bridge. This beach is pet friendly, has RV parking and is in close proximity to the parking lot for easy access. A perfect location to escape the busy hustle and bustle of Duluth’s downtown area. Be sure to take advantage of the panoramic Lake Superior views from the beach and you watch boats and freighters navigate to the canal.
The Lakewalk Beach
Duluth, Minnesota
Lake Walk Beach is located in Duluth in Minnesota’s St. Louis County. A pet friendly, rocky beach on the Lake Superior shore and is just 50 yards from the 7 mile Lake Walk. In Canal Park you’ll find parking areas suitable for RVs, from there is an access point to the Lake Walk. Amenities include nearby washroom facilities and water fountains.
42nd Ave E. Park Beach
Duluth, Minnesota
42nd Ave E. Park Beach is a cobblestone, rocky beach located on Lake Superior in Duluth Minnesota’s St. Louis County. Not the easiest to access, this beach requires you to walk a footpath, climb some rocky areas – caution as they’re sometimes slippery, once at the end it opens up to a secluded Lake Superior hideaway. A perfect location to rock hunt, skip stones and bask in the sun on the large dark rocks that absorb the heat. This is a pet friendly area and is located only less than a mile from Glensheen Historic Mansion.
Brighton Beach Park (Kitchi Gammi)
Duluth, Minnesota
Brighton Beach (Kitchi Gammi) is located in Duluth in Minnesota’s St. Louis County. A stony/rocky beach that is located on the far east side of Duluth’s Lake Walk, Brighton Beach (Kitchi Gammi), is a perfect family location. Enjoy a picnic area, outdoor grills, a pavilion and swing sets. A location that holds true Lake Superior beauty, the park is able to be rented to host weddings.
Agate Bay Beach
Two Harbors, Minnesota
Located in Two Harbors in Minnesota’s Lake County is Agate Bay Beach. As the name suggests, this beach is perfect for agate hunting with its mixture of pebbles, sand and rocks. There is ample parking space, RV parking and close proximity from beach to parking lot for easy access. This is a great location for safe swimming as it sits behind the breakwater. From the beach you’ll be able to see the Breakwater Lighthouse as well as the Two Harbors Lighthouse, take a tour of each while in the area!
Burlington Bay Beach
Two Harbors, Minnesota
Also located in Two Harbors in Minnesota’s Lake County is Burlington Bay Beach. This Lake Superior beach is a pebbly/sandy location within Burlington Bay. Easily accessible off the side of the road you’ll find a small gravel parking area to the right side of it. This beach is a hotspot for natural artifacts of Lake Superior, find collection worthy stones, “sea” glass/ lake glass and agates. For nearby camping there is Burlington Bay Campground nearby. Amenities include pet friendly areas, picnic tables and shallow swimming areas.
Flood Bay Beach
Two Harbors, Minnesota
Flood Bay Beach is located in Two Harbors in Minnesota’s Lake County. A Lake Superior treasure that has a rocky/pebbly beach setting on Superior’s Flood Bay. This location boasts spectacular views, a chance to hunt for agates and shallow waters for swimming on warm summer days. Amenities include close proximity to the road and ideal parking for RV’s.
Kelsey Beach
Two Harbors, Minnesota
Just north of Two Harbors is Kelsey Beach located in Minnesota’s Lake County on the Lake Superior shore. At the meet points of Stewart River and Lake Superior, this pebbly/cobblestone beach gives you the vibes of seclusion and tranquility. There is a parking area on the far side of the Stewart River Bridge. Take small foot paths down to the beach, once there it opens up to Lake Superior displaying seemingly endless views.
Agate Beach
Two Harbors, Minnesota
Located in Gooseberry Falls State Park in Minnesota’s Lake County is Agate Beach. A short 13 miles north of Two Harbors, this pebbly beach is situated near the Gooseberry Falls. As assumed by the name, you’re likely to find treasurable agates all along this Lake Superior beach. Amenities include ample parking making it suitable for RV’s, per friendly areas and nearby hiking destinations.
Thompson Beach
Two Harbors, Minnesota
Just up from Agate Beach, Thompson Beach is 15 miles from Two Harbors in Minnesota’s Lake County. This pebbly beach is admired for it’s seclusion. It can only be accessed via kayak from Gooseberry Falls State Park, 2.4 miles south of the beach. Or, by hiking off the Gitchi Gami State Trail. There is the option of camping at this location with designated areas.
Iona’s Beach
Two Harbors, Minnesota
Also located in Two Harbors in Minnesota’s Lake County 16 miles north of Two Harbors is Iona’s Beach Scientific and Natural Area (SNA). This beach features a paved parking lot and boat launch. The uniqueness of the beach is derived from the pink, smooth stones that make up the landscape. You’ll hear a windchime like melody from the stones as the waves of Lake Superior rustle them on the shore. This location does require a small trek (200 meters) from the parking lot to the beach but is not considered difficult as it is a well used path.
Pebble Beach – Split Rock
Two Harbors, Minnesota
Located in Split Rock Lighthouse State Park in Minnesota’s Lake County is Pebble Beach. A stony/pebbly beach featuring a landscape of smooth thin stones, perfect for skipping on Lake Superior. From the beach you can view Split Rock Lighthouse, a historic monument. Amenities include ample parking, dog friendly areas and RV parking.
Black Beach
Silver Bay, Minnesota
Only a mile from Silver Bay city limits lays Black Beach in Minnesota’s Cook County. As per the name, this Lake Superior Beach encompasses beautiful silk black sand, offering a unique setting. The black sand is derived from the discarding of taconite tailings into Lake Superior. Over time the beach has been restored to health but the onyx hue still remains there. This lake does require a bit of a walk to get to from the small gravel parking lot but isn’t considered difficult.
Sugarloaf Cove Beach
Schroeder, Minnesota
Also located in Minnesota’s Cook County, Sugarloaf Cove Beach is located in Schroeder within the Sugarloaf Cove Nature Preserve. This is a pebbly beach on Lake Superior where you’ll find a number of walking paths to explore the Nature Preserve. Relax, skip a stone and bring your fur baby along, pets are welcome!
Temperance River State Park Beach
Schroeder, Minnesota
Located in the State Park near Schroeder, Temperance River State Park Beach is in Minnesota’s Cook County. This pebbly beach on the shore of Lake Superior is adjacent to the Temperance River, where it meets up to Lake Superior. At the park are ample hiking trails and campground areas. Other amenities at the beach include picnic tables, fire pits BBQ’s and portable water. You can bring your pet along to this beach and State Park as well!
Cutface Creek Wayside Rest Beach
Grand Marais, Minnesota
In beautiful Grand Marais in Minnesota’s Cook County, Cutface Creek Wayside Rest Beach is a cobblestone beach on Lake Superior. A common rest area for travelers, you can enjoy the views or collect rocks along the beach. Amenities include a paved parking area, suitable for RV’s also. There are pets allowed on this beach, picnic tables and washrooms for public use as well.
Grand Marais Campground Beach
Grand Marais, Minnesota
Located on a municipal campground, Grand Marais Campground Beach in Minnesota’s Cook County is a pebbly beach. Close to local shopping destinations and attractions the campground is perfectly situated. The beach itself offers both covered and non-covered picnic tables, a boat launch, pet friendly areas and portable washrooms. Also check out the Grand Marais Lighthouse just across the harbor on the break wall.
Artist’s Point

Located just by the Grand Marais Campground Beach, Artist’s Point is located in Grand Marais in Minnesota’s Cook County. It is not your typical beach, it is a flat rock peninsula stretching into Lake Superior. Just beside the break water walk to Grand Marais Lighthouse, this location has ample parking space at the Lake Superior Grand Marais Public water Access. While enjoying the views this destination has to offer you can be joined by your pet as this is a pet friendly area!

A short 8.5 mile drive away from Grand Marais, Minnesota’s Cook County is a beautiful cobblestone beach on Lake Superior. This beach is located just off the highway, making it a perfect location to stretch your legs along a long travel. Two-Fish House Beach
Grand Portage, Minnesota
Just 5.6 miles outside of Grand Portage in Minnesota’s Cook County, you’ll find Two-Fish House Beach, a pebbly/rocky beach. This Lake Superior gem is just off highway 61. There is a small parking area and so parking roadside is also an option. This place offers a unique nostalgia through the old abandoned fish houses located on the left side of the beach as well as an old abandoned car within the forest.
Hollow Rock Beach
Grand Portage, Minnesota
Just south of Grand Portage (3 miles) is Hollow Rock Beach, located in Minnesota’s Cook County at the Hollow Rock Resort. This pebbly beach on the shore of Lake Superior is just down county road 89. Named appropriately, this beach features a picturesque rock formation in the water just off the shore of the beach. Seeing how the beach is located at a resort there is parking space, restrooms and is open to visitors to the beach, even if you’re not a guest at the resort.
Porphyry Island Black Sand Beach
Thunder Bay, Ontario
Located at the southwest end of the Black Bay Peninsula, just east of Sleeping Giant Provincial Park is Porphyry Island, where Black Sand Beach sits on the shore of Lake Superior. Travel by kayak, canoe, or power boat to get to the island, you can even hire to travel by floatplane or helicopter as there is a heliport at Porphyry. The island itself is made up of black volcanic rock and is topped with boreal forest, offering protection from Lake Superior elements. The Black Sand Beach is a result of the islands volcanic rock eroding and breaking down, over time creating a fine sandy beach, perfect for warming up after a swim in Lake Superior.
Chippewa Sandy Beach
Thunder Bay, Ontario
On the southern end of Ontario’s Thunder Bay adjacent Fort William’s First Nation, you’ll find the Chippewa Sandy Beach. There is a playground and picnic areas along with shallow waters perfect for swimming. Not far from the city itself, enjoy shopping, local attractions and sight seeing while in the area.
Chippewa Park Beach
Thunder Bay, Ontario
Also located on the southern end of Ontario’s Thunder Bay in Fort William’s First Nation, this is a sandy beach on Lake Superior. From this location you can view the Sleeping Giant, an iconic mountain formation. A family friendly area, you can enjoy amusement rides, picnic areas and playgrounds. Other amenities include a large parking area, suitable for RV’s and the beach itself is in close proximity to the parking lot for convenience.
Wild Goose Beach
Shuniah, Ontario
Just outside of Thunder Bay is the community of Shuniah which is located in Ontario’s Superior Country. Located off Lakeshore Drive is Goose Bay Road which will bring you to the beach. Once there you’ll fall in love with the 400 foot long sandy beach on Lake Superior. Enjoy beautiful views or swim in the waters. This is a pet friendly location!
Schreiber Beach
Schreiber, Ontario
Located in Schreiber, in Ontario’s Superior Country, this Lake Superior beach boasts a pebbly landscape. Along the Casque Isle Hiking Trail, this beach requires a short hike and offers a sense of seclusion. Enjoy wonderous Lake Superior views, a pet friendly area and a fair sized parking space.
Terrace Bay Beach
Terrace Bay, Ontario
In Ontario’s Superior Country, Terrace Bay beach is located at the Lake Superior National Marine Conservational Area in Terrace Bay. This is a sandy beach located on Lake Superior. From here, you can view the caribou populated Slate Islands Provincial Park as well as the lower falls of Aguasabon. This beach offers fun for the whole family, volleyball, a boat launch and docks. Ample parking, public restrooms and wheelchair accessible kayak launches. By the summer of 2022 the beach will feature a 300 meter long boardwalk to stroll down and enjoy Lake Superior views. Other amenities include being pet friendly, access to nature trails and a chance to go to the Parks Canada Red Chairs.
Neys Provincial Park Beach
Terrace Bay, Ontario
Just shy of 55 miles east of Terrace Bay in Ontario’s Superior Country. This 1.2 mile long sandy beach on the Shore of Lake Superior’s Ashburton Bay is within Neys Provincial Park and offers shallow swimming areas. Little Pic River flows into Lake Superior at one end of the beach while at the other end is a volcanic rock dating back before time. Amenities include being a pet friendly location, having parking suitable for RV’s and the parking area in itself is in close proximity to the beach.
Pebble Beach
Marathon, Ontario
Located in Marathon in Ontario’s Superior Country is Pebble Beach. This beach stretching 1.2 miles long and as the name suggests is landscaped in pebbles. The colorful rounded stones that make up this beach offers picturesque views of Lake Superior. The parking lot is situated just above the beach and offers spectacular views as well. From the parking area is a path that leads down to the beach, it is recommended to walk with caution down the path to the beach. Other amenities include being pet friendly and just by the parking area you’ll find picnic tables and a playground area.
Horsehsoe Beach
Heron Bay, Ontario
Horseshoe Beach is located in Pukaskwa National Park in Ontario’s Superior. An all accessible boardwalk leads to the sandy beach along Lake Superior from Hattie Cove Campground. These unique waters of Lake Superior are emerald green in color and the beach has luminating gold sand. There are many hiking trails around the beach to explore at the National Park.
Sandy Beach
Wawa, Ontario
Located in Ontario’s Algoma Country, Sandy beach is in the community of Wawa and only a 10 minute drive from the Wawa Goose. This sand dune beach on the shore of Lake Superior has a long boardwalk, a pavilion with historic learning features. There is ample parking and pets are permitted in this area as long as they are on -leash.
Government Dock Beach
Wawa, Ontario
Also located in Ontario’s Algoma Country in the community of Wawa, this is a rocky/pebbly beach on the shore of Lake Superior and stretches mere 500 feet long. Not being an ideal located for swimming due to the harsh drop-off and strong undertow, you can still enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Superior. This is a common destination for photographers and storm watchers to capture the harsh elements Lake Superior can produce.
Old Woman Bay
Lake Superior Provincial Park, Ontario
Old Woman Bay is located within the Lake Superior Provincial Park just south of Wawa (16 miles). A sandy beach stretching 1.8 miles long, this beach offers wonderous views of Lake Superior. Parking is located across highway 17 at the Nokomis Trailhead and is suitable for RV parking as well. Other amenities include washrooms, benches and picnic tables – a perfect pit stop destination!
Katherine Cove
Lake Superior Provincial Park, Ontario
In Lake Superiors Provincial Park in Ontario’s Algoma Country is Katherine Cove. This sandy beach on the Lake Superior shore offers picnic tables, benches and washrooms all available for public use. This is an ideal location for swimming and is adjacent to the Lizard Islands, another ideal swimming area. From the beach, there is a short yet difficult hiking trail to Bathtub Island, along the Coastal Trail.
Pancake Bay
Batchawana Bay, Ontario
Located in Pancake Bay Provincial Park in Ontario’s Algoma Country is Pancake Bay Beach. This 2 mile long sandy beach on the Lake Superior shore offers ideal swimming conditions as it is shallow and sheltered within the bay. There is an area dedicated to pets so you can enjoy the beach with your fur friend. Camping is permitted on the park and is easily accessible to and from the beach. There are various hiking trails in this area for you to explore as well.
Batchawana Bay
Batchawana Bay, Ontario
Batchawana Bay is located in the Batchawana Bay Provincial Park found just 31 miles north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Algoma Country. A destination only permitting day use, this a sandy Lake Superior beach. This beach is close to many amenities including shopping, dining and local attractions. There is a large parking area suitable for RV’s.
Harmony Beach
Goulais River, Ontario
Situated 26.7 miles north of Sault Ste. Marais, Harmony Beach is in Ontario’s Algoma Country. Stretching 2 miles long, this sandy beach is accessible via Harmony Beach Road off highway 17. There is a boat launch and plenty of parking at this location. You can also choose to stay overnight at the resort or campground!
Pointe Des Chenes
Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
Located in Sault Ste. Marie is Point Des Chenes in Ontario’s Algoma Country. Apart of the Lions Club Point Des Chenes Campground, this is a sandy Lake Superior beach. Although the beach itself is sandy the underwater landscape is is rather rocky, water shoes are a good thing to keep in mind. Amenities include washrooms and changerooms and pet friendly areas. From this location you can view freighters come and go from the Soo Docks and marvelous views of Lake Superior.
