Grand Marais is a community within Michigan’s Alger County. You can find this scenic village on the southern shores of Lake Superior and at the eastern edge of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy year round recreation fun from water sports, hiking and agate hunting to snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. The Grand Marais Historical Society operates three museums in the summer, including the quirky Pickle Barrel House in town and the Lightkeeper’s House on Coast Guard Point. The town has fine public beaches, a full-service campground and marina, and a good selection of basic services and shops. Grand Marais is an official Trail Town for the North Country Trail, which passes through town. Other attractions include an Agate Museum, a public rose garden, and Sable Falls just west of town.
