Grand Island East Channel Lighthouse is located on the southeast shore of Grand Island in Michigan’s Alger County. Grand Island is accessible by passenger Ferry, private boat, cruise or tours out of Munising. Built in 1868 of wood, it stands 45.9 feet (14m) tall. The lighthouse is privately owned and the grounds aren’t open to the public though Pictured Rocks Cruises and Shipwreck tours out of Munising pass by it. The wooden structure makes this lighthouse a unique one on Lake Superior and is a favorite among photographers.
