The Casque Isles Hiking Trail is located between Rossport and Terrace Bay in Ontario’s Superior Country. This is a 33 mile (53 km) point to point trail along the north shore of Lake Superior. The entire hike would take approximately 3-5 days though there are options to complete five different shorter segments and 11 access points.
Mclean’s Segment is 8.6 miles (14 km) between Rossport and Rainbow Falls Provincial Park. The Schreiber Channel is 8 miles (13 km) and is between Rainbow Falls Provincial Park and Schreiber Beach. The Mt. Gwynne Segment is 4.3 miles (7 km) between Schreiber Beach and Worthington Bay Road. The Death Valley segment is 6.2 miles (10 km) between Worthington Bay Road and Cottage Road. The Hydro Bay segment is 1.8 miles (3 km) between Cottage Road and Hydro Bay Road. The Lyda Bay segment is (6 km) and is between Hydro Bay Road and Terrace Bay’s Aguasabon Falls.
There is so much to experience and incredible vistas along this trail. You will see old gold mines, fossil deposits, Indigenous pictographs, beaches, lookouts, waterfalls, creeks and of course, Lake Superior!
