Government Dock Beach is located in Wawa in Ontario’s Algoma Country. This is a rocky/pebbly beach stretching 492 feet (150m) along the shore of Lake Superior. In the 1880’s this beach received supplies and workers for the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railroad. This is an incredible place for watching the ferocity of Lake Superior crash in to shore or climb to the top of the rocks and watch the sunset. A favorite among photographers and storm watchers though swimming here is not recommended. The immediate drop off creates a strong undertow making it dangerous.
