1. The World’s Largest Freshwater Lake
Well we can’t get far without mentioning the greatest of the Great Lakes… Lake Superior is the worlds largest freshwater lake by surface area. So it would come as no surprise that it is the largest of the 5 Great Lakes in North America and is bordered by two countries. The official route to circle this “in-land sea” is 1,300 miles (2,092 km) The route includes visiting three US states and one Canadian province. That’s right… circling Lake Superior allows you to visit two different countries! Make sure to read up on these 20 Lake Superior Facts!
The Lake Superior Circle Tour’s massive size allows travelers to experience uniqueness all along the Lake. The communities on Superior may have the lake in common but they all stand out from one another with their own unique offerings. Each city and town has a different history which has formed different cultures, attractions, products and experiences. Some of these towns sit directly on the shores of the lake while others lie just off of it.
