Pie Island Lighthouse is located about 6 miles (10km) south of Thunder Bay in Ontario’s Superior Country at the west end of the island. Built in 1895, the lighthouse is a small 23 foot (7m) tall square wooden tower, painted white with red accents. It is not open to the public and only accessible by boat. The stories of the light keepers that manned this light station ended tragically and it was left abandoned in 1953.
