The Thunder Bay Marina Sculptures are located in Thunder Bay in Ontario’s Superior Country. There are over a dozen art installations at the Marina Park by local artists. “The Celebration Circle Panels” are by artists Randy and Roy Thomas, each panel references the artist’s Ahnisnabae culture including images of Turtle Island and the Thunderbird. “2 Beacons Jiigew” by Eduardo Aquino and Karen Shankski are two 65 foot steel beacons with a cascade of LED lights flowing down the length of them. “Lanterns – Paleogirl, Swimmers, Ulysses” by Mark Nisenholt are three cedar lanterns featuring vibrant, colorful artwork on glass front panels. “Traveller’s Return” by Andy Davies are larger than life aluminum water droplets. “Vessel” by Jacqueline Metz and Nancy Chew is a steel sculpture that also functions as seating. “Naturally Inflated” by Paul Slipper and Nadine Stefan are a 10 balloon animals made of stone.
