Grand Island is accessible by passenger Ferry, private boat, or cruise out of Munising. This Lighthouse stands on a 175 foot (53.3m) cliff on public property and not open to the public though it can be viewed from the water. Established in 1867, it was deactivated in 1961 and has been restored into a lovely summer home. The station has a three story, 40 foot (12m) light tower, two story brick building and one story kitchen addition.
