Spray Falls is located 21.5 miles (34.6 km) northeast of Munising in Michigan’s Alger County. The falls is on the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and flows 70 feet (21.3 m) over a cliff directly into Lake Superior. This impressive waterfall is remote and is best seen from the water. At the base of the falls, 200 feet (61 m) under water lies the remains of “Superior” from it’s shipwreck in 1856. Pictured Rocks Cruises will take you past this picturesque waterfall or you can kayak there from Twelvemile Beach. The Lakeshore North Country Trail does pass over the top of the falls but doesn’t offer the best view. There is a lookout point east of the falls where you can see a side view of it from afar.
