Grand Island Harbor Rear Range Lighthouse is located 50 yards down a narrow one-lane dirt road off of M-28 just before entering Christmas, 4.5 miles (7.2km) west of Munising, in Michigan’s Alger County. Also known as the Bay Furnace Range Light, it was first lit in 1914 and stands 70 feet (21.3m) tall. The Hiawatha National Forest offers free tours periodically during the summer months, dependent on staffing. The Front Range is located down the adjacent path across the M-28 by the lake.
