Slate Islands Lighthouse is located on Slate Island Provincial Park approximately 7.5 miles (12km) south of Terrace Bay in Ontario’s Superior Country. The lighthouse was built in 1903 and can only be accessed by boat, charter or by experienced kayakers from Rossport, Schreiber or Terrace Bay. It is elevated 224 feet (68 m) above the level of the lake and the height of the octagonal building from its base to the lantern is 36 feet (10.9 m). The grounds are open to this Provincial Park filled with roaming caribou though there are no amenities.
