The Large Rooster is located outside Weldon’s Gift Shop in Two Harbors in Minnesota’s Lake County. This 8 foot (2.4m) tall fiberglass rooster greets you as you enter the town coming north from Duluth on Highway 61. The bright red, yellow and white rooster is hard to miss and has been perched over the stretch of highway for over 40 years. Though he has been known to stray on occasion. It once ended up on the lawn at the local high school, he was once held captive by some college pranksters and was on another occasion, even tossed off a bridge. Being thrown off a bridge had cause quite some damage to this local treasure until airline mechanics in Duluth volunteered to mend him up.
