Wakefield is located in Michigan’s Gogebic County. Wakefield sits along the junction of U.S. Highway 28 and M-2. Wakefield is near Lake Gogebic State Park and Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. Wakefield has a population of 1,699 and was founded in 1899. Some of the most popular things to do in Wakefield include renting kayaks, visiting their giftshops, stopping into the visitor’s center, and the Big Snow Resort. If you’re a history buff, visit the Wakefield Historical Museum. The Visitors Center is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
