The Raymond Kestner Waterfront Park is located in Houghton in Michigan’s Houghton County along the shoreline of Portage Canal. This waterfront park is the perfect place for a picnic or a pleasant stroll with beautiful views of the canal and the Portage Lake Lift Bridge. The park is equipped with picnic tables and benches, BBQ grills, a pavilion, and restroom facilities During the summer there is often live music playing under a bandshell. The park also features an incredible playground inspired by the board game “Chutes and Ladders” with a series of ladders, climbing areas and slides. There is a sandy swimming beach that is perfect for cooling off on a hot day. A 4.5 mile paved, barrier free trail runs along the canal offering a great opportunity for a walkers, joggers or cyclists to enjoy views of the canal in a easily accessible way. The East Houghton Waterfront Park can be found next to this one along the Portage Canal.
