Hancock Recreation Area – Beach is located in Hancock in Michigan’s Houghton County. This is a sandy beach on the shore of Portage Lake. The 28 acre Recreation Area offers opportunities for camping, boating, swimming, fishing and picnicking. There are many things available for public enjoyment at this beach including, a playground, volleyball and horseshoe courts, a dock, changing rooms, picnic tables and pavilion. The facilities are open to the public from May 15 to October 15. While there are daily fees for the campsites, use of the beach is free.
