Keweenaw Waterway Upper Entrance Lighthouse is located in McLain State Park, 11.4 miles (18.3kms) from Hancock in Michigan’s Houghton County. The lighthouse is located on the end of the breakwater where Portage Lake meets Lake Superior. It can be view from the beach or walk along the breakwater to get a closer look. The breakwater is constructed of large rocks so climbing along them can be treacherous. Proper footwear and use of caution is imperative. The tower is closed to the public and can only be viewed from the outside. The parking area at the State Park is in close proximity to the beach where viewing this lighthouse is possible.
