The Fort St. Joseph National Historic Site is located on the North Shore of Lake Huron about 56 miles (90 km) south of Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario’s Algoma Country. This historic site served as the base for where an alliance between the British military and the First Nations People set a maneuver against the Americans in the War of 1812. Explore the ruins of the limestone building foundations while era costumed interpreters guide you and explain the sites significance. Hike the nature trails and watch out for the more than 100 species of birds that visit Fort St. Joseph Island Bird Sanctuary.

While exploring Fort St. Joseph, you can take a seat on the Park Canada Red Chairs at Rains Point or The Warf  and soak in the scenery and history.
