Alexander Falls Dam is located about 9.9 miles (16 km) northwest of Nipigon in Ontario’s Superior Country. A short trail leads to a viewing platform directly across the Nipigon River from falls, dam and the Alexander Generating Station Powerhouse. The Generating Station produces enough electricity to power approximately 60,000 homes annually. There is a boat launch just before the dam and the river and is popular among fisherman looking for brook trout, lake trout, walleye, and northern pike. The world record brook trout was caught out of the Nipigon River.
