The Rathbone School and Museum is located in Eagle Harbor in Michigan’s Keweenaw County. The school was built in 1853 and served the community until 1872. During that time the school master, Justus H Rathbone, conceived of the idea for the ritual that became the Order of the Knights Pythias, a secret fraternal society. This school turned museum is now set up as a one room period school and include exhibits and regalia commemorating the Knights of Pythias. It’s historic significance was recognized and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
