Kakabeka is located in Ontario’s Superior Country within the township of Oliver Paipoonge. The village of Kakabeka’s name is derived from the nearby Kakabeka Falls waterfall just minutes away and 19.8 miles (32 km) west of Thunder Bay. Kakabeka Falls is the second tallest waterfall in Ontario and is often referred to as “the Niagara of the North”. While Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park brings arounds 200,000 annual visitors to the area, the village of Kakabeka has much more to offer travelers. Hotels, restaurants, and campsites with unmatched small town hospitality will leave a lasting impression. Every August the village hosts a 3 day street fair event. The festivities include midway rides, concerts, artisans, craft booths, and plenty of food.
