Phil the Window Washer is located Marquette in Michigan’s Marquette County. Upon a bench in a small park sits a life sized sculpture of the Marquette icon Phil Niemisto. Phil has spent years washing merchants windows never asking for compensation. There is a plaque next to the sculpture that reads “Phil became an icon in Marquette’s downtown district, working tirelessly, rain or snow, washing merchants’ windows and planting and caring for this public garden.” Phil had the honor of seeing the statue’s unveiling on October 17, 2017 at the age of 88, passing away a few months later. Visit this park and take a seat next to this tribute to a selfless, lovely man. Parking is available in the Bluff Street Public Parking Parkade right behind Phil Niemisto Pocket Park.
