The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) covers a 1,090,000-acre wilderness area within the Superior National Forest in northern Minnesota. It is adjoined to the Quetico Provincial Park in Ontario. The BWCAW contains over 1,200 miles (1931 km) of canoe routes, 12 hiking trails and over 2,000 designated campsites.
