Baraga is located in Michigan’s Baraga County. Baraga sits along the junction of U.S. route 41 and M-38 near Baraga State Park. Baraga has a population of 1980 and was founded in 1870. Baraga County was named after Father Frederic Baraga, known as the Snowshoe Priest, the Bishop of northern Michigan. The Shrine of the Snowshoe Priest on US-41 between Baraga and L’Anse rises six stories above the Red Rock Bluff. This area is most well known for being close to the Sand Point Lighthouse and some of the most popular things to do are visiting the lighthouse, state park, and their casino.
