Gchi-Waaswaaganing, located in Marathon within Ontario’s Superior Country, is a vibrant hub for visitors and locals alike. It’s the perfect place to discover local attractions, access tourism information, browse and purchase handcrafted goods from talented local artisans, and enjoy refreshing drinks and snacks.
Biigtigong Nishnaabeg (formerly Pic River First Nation) is situated along the north shore of Gchi-Gami (Lake Superior). In 2016, Gchi-Waaswaaganing was established off Highway 17 through a partnership with the Town of Marathon. Since then, “Gchi-Waa” has flourished as a cherished community space, hosting ceremonies, events, workshops, and showcasing the artistry of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg artisans and those from neighboring communities.
