The Kearsarge Ship of Stones is located in Kearsarge 2 miles north of Calumet in Michigan’s Houghton County. Along Highway 41 sits a stone ship commemorating the U.S.S. Kearsarge. It was built in the 1930s by the WPA and was constructed of left over building materials. The town was named after the ship that was in service from 1862-1894 by a former naval officer.
